Kalisia MillerName: Kalisia Miller

Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica

Current City: Boynton Beach, Florida

Education: I received my Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies in 2015. Subsequently, I received my Legal Education Certificate from Norman Manley law school in 2017 and was called to the Jamaican bar as an Attorney in 2017. I'm currently pursuing an LLM in International Arbitration at the University of Miami.

How did you get involved in international arbitration?

At the Philip C Jessup international law mooting competition, I met an attorney who practiced international arbitration. She invited me to attend the Jamaica international arbitration week In 2017. From my attendance it became clear that there was a sparsity of legal counsel in Jamaica who was involved in the practice area. To educate myself I attended The Hague Academy of private international law where I was awarded a full scholarship. That year the program focused on international arbitration. There I fell in love with the concept of using international law concepts to resolve private commercial disputes. The intrigue of the area motivated me to pursue my LLM.
