Young ICCA Debate: Hong Kong

Date:
23 October 202613:00 - 14:30(HKT)

As part of Hong Kong Arbitration Week, Young ICCA is pleased to invite you to join us for a lively debate on one of the most prescient issues facing the future of international arbitration:

“This House believes that AI should be allowed to participate in every stage of arbitration, including as arbitrator, counsel's assistant and tribunal aide.”

The event will take place on Friday, 23 October 2026 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm HKT and is generously sponsored by Johnson Stokes & Master and BRG. This year’s debate will invert the usual Young ICCA format by having senior arbitration practitioners assume the role of debaters, while more junior lawyers make up the Tribunal. The event will also adopt a more dynamic format with both scripted and unscripted follow-up questions raised by the Tribunal and hosts.

Tribunal

  • Jacky Fung (Freshfields)
  • Jocelyn Heng (HKIAC)
  • Nicholas Lee (Quinn Emanuel)

Debaters

  • Simon Chapman KC (HSF Kramer)
  • Thara Gopalan (AAA-ICDR)
  • Filip Nordlund (Legora)
  • Winnie Tam SC, SBS, JP (Des Voeux Chambers)

Hosts

  • Clemency Wang (White & Case)
  • Thomas Fearis (BRG)

Join us for what promises to be a lively and thought-provoking discussion, followed by a networking reception with members of Hong Kong’s arbitration community. The event will be held in person at Johnson Stokes & Master in Hong Kong and will also be accessible remotely.  Please register via the Hong Kong Arbitration Week portal.
