Young ICCA, in partnership with Georgetown University and its law school, Georgetown University Law Center (or Georgetown Law), is pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship programme, designed to offer Young ICCA members the possibility of being awarded a full tuition fee scholarship to attend the Georgetown Law LL.M. as a specialist International Arbitration Scholar, commencing in the academic year 2026-2027. The Georgetown Law – Young ICCA Scholarship covers full tuition fees in the 2026-27 academic year.

Georgetown University is one of the World’s leading academic and research institutions, founded in 1789, offering a unique educational experience preparing the next generation of global citizens to lead and make a difference in the world. Georgetown Law is one of the largest and most prominent law schools in the United States, founded in 1870 and with over 48,000 alumni worldwide. It has offered an LL.M. programme since 1878. The LL.M. programme is one of the largest in the United States, offering over 300 courses and specialised degrees in academic fields in which Georgetown has gained wide recognition, including international arbitration and dispute resolution. As part of its LL.M., Georgetown offers the Certificate in International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution, with an extensive list of course options focused on public and private international law, international economic law and dispute resolution. Georgetown Law also offers the ‘International Arbitration Scholars’ initiative, whereby a small number of highly accomplished, admitted students are provided with substantial scholarships.

The Georgetown Law – Young ICCA Scholarship programme will be awarded to one of the incoming academic year’s selected International Arbitration Scholars, providing them with the opportunity to participate in special networking events during their studies, develop a research topic on an area of international arbitration and produce a paper of publishable quality under the supervision of an international disputes-focused professor.

Candidates for the Georgetown Law – Young ICCA Scholarship must be: (i) Young ICCA members; (ii) have submitted their application for admission to the Georgetown LL.M. program through the required application platform; (iii) have applied for the International Arbitration Scholars programme stating why they deserve to be awarded the scholarship; and (iv) been selected for admission to the LL.M. programme by Georgetown Law. The Georgetown Law – Young ICCA Scholarship will be awarded based on the merits of the candidate and their anticipated contribution to the development of international arbitration and the goals of Young ICCA, which is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in international arbitration.

The application deadline for the Georgetown Law – Young ICCA Scholarship is the same as the regular application deadline for admission to the Georgetown Law LL.M. (i.e., the last date for compliant applications having been Thursday, 5 February 2026). Candidates for the inaugural scholarship will be selected from the current applicants to the International Arbitration Scholars programme.

The 2026-27 Georgetown Law – Young ICC Scholarship recipient will be announced at the XXVIIth ICCA Congress in Madrid during the Welcome Remarks on the morning of Monday 13 April 2026.
