Young ICCA Mentoring Programme Interview Series
Young ICCA is pleased to announce the next four events in the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme Interview Series, taking place between September and December 2026.
The monthly Interview Series brings together participants in the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme for conversations about careers, mentoring and professional development. In each session, Mentees host a fireside chat with their Group Advisor and Mentor, offering participants an opportunity to hear about their experiences, career paths and perspectives on the practice of international arbitration.
The upcoming interviews will feature Pierre Mayer, Shaneen Parikh, Matthew Secomb, Stephan Schill, Inka Hannefeld and Joanne Lau.
- An Interview with Pierre Mayer 21 September 2026 | 2:00 PM
Pierre Mayer will be interviewed by Group Advisor Artemis P. Malliaropoulou and Mentees Alfred Fabian, Ana Karina Parra, Carolina Botelho Sampaio and Johannes Wahnschaffe.
About Pierre Mayer:
Professor Pierre Mayer is an Emeritus Professor at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he taught for nearly three decades, he has also practiced as counsel and arbitrator in hundreds of international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings across a wide range of industries. Prior to founding his own practice, he was a partner at Coudert Brothers, Clifford Chance and Dechert. A prolific author and sought-after speaker, Professor Mayer is the author of leading reference works on private international law and arbitration and has held numerous prominent positions within the international arbitration community, including as President of the International Academy for Arbitration Law and of the International Law Association’s Committee on International Commercial Arbitration. He is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities in international arbitration worldwide.

Shaneen Parikh is a leading arbitration lawyer and a Vice-Chair of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, where she contributes to shaping best practices across the global arbitration community. With extensive experience in complex cross-border disputes and a strong commitment to the development of the arbitration profession, she is widely recognised for her leadership within both the Indian and international arbitration communities.
About Matthew Secomb:
Matthew Secomb is an independent arbitrator based in Singapore and Paris, formerly Head of White & Case’s International Arbitration Practice in Asia-Pacific and previously Counsel to the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. Triple-qualified in Australia, England & Wales, and France, he has over twenty-five years of experience handling international commercial and investment disputes, particularly in the energy and construction sectors. Together, they bring valuable perspectives on advocacy, arbitral institutions and the evolving practice of international arbitration

Dr. Inka Hanefeld is the founding partner of HANEFELD Rechtsanwälte in Hamburg and Paris and is recognised internationally as one of Germany’s leading arbitration practitioners. She regularly acts as arbitrator and counsel in complex commercial and investor-state disputes and has served as Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. Combining academic leadership and practical experience at the highest level, they offer unique insights into the present and future of international arbitration.
